Airbrush app vs Facetune: which is better?

Skin can be one tricky biotch. Between unexpected blemishes, hormonal acne, and those blackheads that just won’t seem to quit, many of us deal with skin issues that don’t make us feel our best. Not fun.

But hey, just because you’re fighting some pesky pimples doesn't mean you should be denied putting put your best face forward in your pictures.

Lucky for us, with tools like the Airbrush app and Facetune, it’s now easier than ever to banish distracting blemishes from your photos so you can shine.

But which tool works best? How can we achieve glowing skin without more pimples popping up from the stress of using the app?

That’s what we’re here to find out today. Let’s take a closer look at both the Airbrush app and Facetune so we can help you pick the tool that works best for you.

The main differences between Airbrush App and Facetune

  • Facetune video is easy to find and use on the Facetune app. Airbrush Video requires a different app altogether if you want to make videos.
  • Facetune offers a one-time purchase option. Airbrush does not.
  • Both apps allow you to improve your selfie and get creative with filters and tools, but Facetune’s icons might be more intuitive and easy to use.
  • Facetune allows you to change the colors of clothes. Airbrush does not

Comparing the Airbrush App to Facetune

What is Airbrush App?

The Airbrush App is a tool that specializes in helping you achieve the perfect selfie every time.

There are three main components of the Airbrush App:

  • Tools that help you smooth out blemishes and wrinkles
  • Photo effects that allow you to edit your images like a pro
  • And new filters to play with!

Basically, if you’re the Queen/King of selfies, and you want a little help stepping up your selfie game, this app is worth looking into.

Key Features

The Airbrush App does so much more than just Airbrush your images. That’s right, this editing tool is about more than just the skin.

If you want to put your best face forward in your next SM post, some of the key selfie editing tools you’ll love include:

  • Even out skin tone
  • Remove acne
  • Whiten teeth
  • Plumper lips
  • Wider smile
  • Brighter eyes
  • Slimer face
  • 50+ makeup looks you can add to any photo

You can even go beyond your face if you want to add volume to your hair or give yourself more height.

If you’re not interested in editing your face, you’ll be happy to hear that Airbrush also offers professional editing tools that can improve the overall look of your selfie. For instance, there are settings to control color and light, ways to add vignettes, and even a tool that allows you to get that blurry background that photographers love so much.

And lastly, don’t forget that Airbrush offers a variety of filters to suit any occasion or mood. Trust us, these aren’t just your average IG filters. These are unique filters that will give your photo the edge it deserves.

User Experience

The biggest complaint customers have with Airbrush App is the sheer volume of options you have to edit your image. Not only can this become overwhelming, making it hard to navigate the app, but we have also found that it can encourage customers to over-edit their images.

While editing your images and playing with your look can be fun, it’s almost important to embrace that natural beauty of yours.

With so many options on Airbrush, we find this can be difficult for customers.

In addition, this volume of tools can make things feel disorganized. You’ll find that not only are there editing tools that include things like retouch, filter, makeup, and creative, but you’ll also find that within each category you have even more tools, like text and glitter under creative and sculpt and reshape under retouch. From there, you’ll have even more decisions to make about how much to sculpt, what color text to use, what filter to use, how much glitter to use, etc.

As you have already probably determined for yourself, decision fatigue can be a real thing when using this app.

Price

You have two options if you want to use the paid version of this app.

  • $35.99/year
  • $7.99/month

If you don’t want to pay, some features won’t be available to you and you won’t be able to save your work.

You do have a 7-day free trial, though, which should help you determine whether or not this app will suit your editing needs.

What is Facetune?

The #1 photo and video editing app in 127 countries, Facetune gives you the opportunity to have pro-level images without having to hire a professional photographer.

Rather than just giving all the professional editing tools to Hollywood celebrities, Facetune aspired to make professional editing available to anyone and everyone who wanted to show off their best look.

What are you waiting for? If you want to take your images to a whole new level, Facetune is the tool for you.

Key Features

Facetune is so attractive to so many customers because it gives you options to play with your imagery, while also ensuring you don’t feel overwhelmed or inclined to overdo it on the editing.

Just like a professional photographer, you want to take the model—you—and make them look like a better version of themselves, while still retaining the general essence of who the model is.

Facetune does this with an organized menu of professional-level tools.

For example, some of our favorite things that you can do with Facetune include:

  • Brightening your teeth
  • Brightening dark under-eye circles
  • Changing eye color
  • Filling in bald patches
  • Heightening cheekbones
  • Changing nose shape

Facetune also has plenty of filters for you to flip through, as well as general photo editing tools to help you achieve the perfect photo.

If you want to get creative with your photo, we suggest looking at how you can change your clothes using the app.

And lastly, don’t forget about Facetune’s video editing capabilities.

User Experience

Facetune aims to be easy to use and organized.

Facetune keeps all of its tools in an easy-to-use toolbar, which makes navigating a breeze. You also should find that each icon is fairly self-explanatory. For example, the face icon is specifically for any changes you want to make to the face, while the retouch tool is for specific skin concerns. You won’t need to spend a lot of time flipping between tools trying to figure out what they do, which customers usually appreciate.

Even the filters are organized. For example, if you want a filter that has a beachy, blue undertone, all of these filters are categorized together. If you want a vibrant, golden hour filter, you’ll find these together as well. There’s even a “no filter” category that is there to help give you that subtle filter look.

And lastly, Facetune makes it easy to see the changes you’ve made to your image. With one tap, you can quickly revert back to the original image and see the changes you’ve made. This is often quite helpful in ensuring you don’t go overboard with the edits.

Price

If you are interested in photo editing, Facetune has made sure there is a price to suit your needs. There are three options for payment:

  • $3.91/month if you commit to a year subscription.
  • $10.49 billed monthly.
  • Or there is a one-time purchase of $99.99. With this option, you’ll never have to pay for another photo editing app again.

Still not sure? Take advantage of the 7-day free trial.

Airbrush vs Facetune: So which one is better?

The biggest difference you’ll find between the apps is how they are organized.

In our experience, Facetune is more intuitive to use. The icons are well laid-out and easy to find, whereas, with Airbrush, you might spend more time playing with the app, trying to figure out what each tool does.

In addition, in terms of video editing abilities, both apps offer this service, but with Facetune, you’ll likely find it much easier. With a clear icon on your home screen indicating video editing capabilities, you’ll be able to access all your videos and start editing instantly. Alternatively, with Airbrush, we found it difficult to know how to get started with video.

Lastly, Facetune gives you more guidance on the home page. As mentioned, you’ll find video editing abilities, but you’ll also easily be able to access all your images, projects you’ve already stated, and updates to the app (i.e. new filters, new features, etc.).

Bottom line: Regardless of what your photo editing needs are, you’ll likely be able to accomplish your goal with either app. You just might save some time—and a headache— with Facetune.
